My house sits at the top of a hill overlooking the Briones Reservoir. Beyond the reservoir, I can also see the hills of Napa. It is always there, always the same, but of course, never the same. Over the course of the COVID-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020, I turned my dining room into a printmaking studio and printed by hand on a board in my garden. Spring quickly turned into the “summer of fire.” After that, the reservoir’s quiet and persistent presence pushed me toward experimentation.
