Although I consider myself first and foremost a printmaker, I also work in egg tempera, mixing my own pigments and using fresh egg yolk as the binder. My egg tempera paintings are probably responsible for my transition from black and white to color printmaking. Cross-hatched brushstrokes used in the paintings are similar to the marks used in wood engravings, woodcuts and etchings. In addition, the layering of color is common to both media.
